Tanya Plibersek meets with Catholic Education Stakeholder Group

The Executive of NCEC meet with members of Catholic School Parents [CSPA]; Catholic Primary Principals [ACPPPA] and CaSPA once a term.

At the most recent meeting in Sydney on Nov 1, 2018, the group had an opportunity to hear first hand from the Deputy Opposition Leader and Shadow Minister for Education, Tanya Plibersek.

Key topics discussed during the meeting with Tanya included:

  • Labor's committment to needs based funding should the win Government next year
  • Providing clear and just guidelines around employment and enrolment in Catholic Schools
  • Labor's promise to restore full consultation with constituent Peak Bodies should they win Government

At our regular meeting with just the usual Stakeholders, discussion included:

  • Updates on details of the Funding arrangements with the Coaition Government
  • Enrolment trends in Catholic Secondary Schools which reveal a decline in many Dioceses in the past 4 years
  • Planning for the 2020 National Catholic Education Conference to be hosted in Melbourne
