Funding Opportunities for Your School - July 9 2018
1.     Inspiring the Future Australia
A recent report revealed that the difference between children's career aspirations from age seven to 17 are limited, and too often based on socio-economic background and influenced by TV, film and radio. As a result, there is not only a reinforcing of gender stereotypes but also a concerning mismatch regarding students' career aspirations and the jobs that will be in demand when they leave school. To bridge this divide and inspire students to chase the careers they want, but might not necessarily feel confident enough to pursue, various initiatives have sprouted up to connect young people with industry experts who can offer advice and hands-on training. Inspiring the Future is a free service which sees people from all sectors and professions from Apprentices to CEOs pledging one hour a year to visit local schools and colleges to talk about their jobs, career and the education route they took. There are two programs - Primary Futures and Secondary Schools and Colleges See the website for more information https://www.inspiringthefuture.org.au/page/homepage

2.     School and Beyond Program (VIC)
Communities affected by the 2009 Victorian bushfires are still recovering, and more than eight years on, young people affected by the fires have emerged as some of the most vulnerable and at-risk in our communities. Recognising this, the Victorian Bushfire Appeal Fund has allocated $550,000 for a program, developed by the Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal (FRRR), called School and Beyond. See the website for information on the current funding round https://www.frrr.org.au/grants/School-Beyond.php
