CaSPA joins other stakeholders in key meeting with Minister Tehan
on 13 November 2018
Today the incoming President of CaSPA Loretta Wholley and current president, Andrew Watson, met with the Education Minister the Hon Dan Tehan in Sydney along with representatives form NCEC, CSPA and ACPPA. Our discussions with the Minister were extremely positive with much common ground being found in relation to school funding specifically discussing part three of the funding arrangement being the Choice and Affordability funding and the process for developing appropriate guidelines for its distribution.
The issue of the quality of education was discussed at length again looking at pre-service teacher education, the on-going professional development of teachers, raising the status of principals, teachers and parents and parent engagement in student learning.
Finally a discussion of the issues surround the right to religious freedom and the possible impact of any changes to the sex discrimination act.
We were gratefully for the time the Minister provided and for his honest and frank discussion with us.
