CaSPA Board meets with large group of Victorian Principals

Above: CaSPA President, Andrew Watson, provides a briefing on Board activities to Victorian Principals - and Thomas Groome, who was a guest at the Dinner.

The CaSPA Board regards one of its top priorities is to meet with local Principals when the Board gathers for its Board meeting.

This aim was certainly achieved when members of the CaSPA Board joined Victorian Principals when they recently gathered at Creswick for their annual conference which this year was being led by the world renowned Thomas Groome from Boston College.

Our CaSPA President was given the opportunity to provide PAVCSS members with an overview of the Board's activities including:

  • its representation on National peak bodies
  • submission to current inquiries in Education related spheres, and
  • standing membership on the Stakeholders of Catholic Education group which includes the NCEC and meets four times a year.

There was also considerable interest in CaSPA led projects such as Principal Health and Well Being along with the CaSPA Data Project which is gathering key data on Age, Gender, Length of Service, Roles both pre and post appointment.

The briefing took place at the first dinner of the Conference and involved over 60 principals which is the largest gathering so far of local principals for an event such as this. In the coming 12 months, the Board looks forward to conducting similar briefings as follows:

  • August 2018 - Northern Territory Principals Meeting
  • March 2019 - Tasmanian Principals Meeting
  • May 2019 - NSW Principals Conference
