ACARA to have a new CEO in 2019

In the email below, the current CEO of ACARA - Robert Randall - explains his plans to pursue other challenges in 2019. Rob has been a great friend to CaSPA and generously given of his time to attend our Board Meetings and assist in other ways. We thank him for his leadership in this high profile and politically sensitive role, and wish him all the best for his future plans.

Earlier this week I advised the ACARA Board Chair, Belinda Robinson of my decision not to seek to renew my contract when it ends in early 2019.

I have been with ACARA since its inception (just on nine years now), following on from the better part of a year with the interim National Curriculum Board and I depart with enormous pride at all the organisation has achieved, in collaboration with partners in the federation, to improve the learning of all young Australians.

Each of you has in some way or another been involved in ACARA's work and have contributed to its success and helped me in the roles that I have undertaken. Thanks!

I am not retiring, and will be interested in applying my skills and experience to new challenges.
However, in the meantime, I will continue in my role as CEO and support the Board as we transition to a new CEO.

My priority during this time will be ongoing implementation of our work plan, with particular attention to preparations for NAPLAN 2019 and the continued successful transition to online assessment.

Thanks very much to each of you for the support that you have provided to me and to ACARA over the period.

Best wishes

Robert Randall
